About the program
Apprentice under master artisans in the heart of Kutch, Gujarat — a region home to some of India’s most treasured living craft traditions. Volunteers learn traditional pottery techniques in the potter’s village of Khavda and hands-on woodcarving and lacquer-craft methods in Nirona, working alongside multi-generational artisan families. You’ll gain real skills in shaping, finishing, and traditional design techniques passed down for centuries. Set against Kutch’s dramatic desert landscape, this program blends hands-on craft immersion with rich Kutchi culture, folk textiles, and community life — perfect for anyone passionate about heritage crafts, design, or traditional art forms.
